How it Happened
McPherson College opened up this ballgame with the opening three runs in the top half of the first inning. It’d be two consecutive RBI doubles from McPherson’s Colt Sussex-Uphold and Myles Vazquez that gave the Bulldogs a quick 2-0 lead. Vazquez would later cross the plate in the inning off a wild pitch to give McPherson a 3-0 advantage heading into the bottom half.
After three quick outs on defense, Jaylon Woodley’s deep shot out to centerfield sent home Adan Soto on a sacrifice fly for the 4-0 lead. This would be the final run of the game for the Bulldogs, as Keiser had found an answer not only on the mound, but in the batter’s box as well.
The Seahawks went on to score 16 unanswered runs through the next six innings led in large part by a pair of Utah native. Keiser’s Ty Martinez would go 4-4 at the plate and bring home four runs for the Seahawks; Jake Olsen was 3-5 on the day and he would plate five runs for the home team. Both of them would go yard in the game, including Olsen’s grand slam that would eventually run the rule the game in favor of Keiser by way of 16-4 in the bottom of the eighth inning.
