Lindsborg, Kan. – The Bethany College Swedes Men’s Basketball team took on the Evangel University Valor in Hahn Gymnasium this afternoon in what turned out to be a 80-60 loss for the Swedes.

The first half was truly a tale of two different teams for Bethany. The Swedes opened the game cold offensively, struggling to convert quality looks and establish a consistent rhythm. Evangel took advantage of the slow start, controlling the tempo early and leaning on efficient shooting to put pressure on the Swedes. As the half progressed, however, Bethany began to find its footing. Improved ball movement and renewed energy on the defensive end helped the Swedes respond, allowing them to regroup and play more confidently in the latter stages of the opening period. Bethany closed the half tied at 31–31, erasing much of the early momentum Evangel had built

In the second half, Evangel asserted itself with a strong offensive surge, outscoring the Swedes 49–29 after the break. The Valor capitalized on second-chance opportunities and points in the paint to pull away, while Bethany was unable to sustain the same level of efficiency it showed late in the first half.

Daniel Bennett was a bright spot for the Swedes, turning in a standout performance with a double-double. Bennett led Bethany with 14 points while pulling down 11 rebounds, anchoring the Swedes inside and providing steady production on both ends of the floor. Donovan Newton also reached double figures with 13 points and added four assists, while several Swedes contributed in spurts off the bench.
