LINDSBORG, Kan. — Congratulations to this week’s Athlete of the Week Katja Blanchat, Smoky Valley senior on the girls’ basketball team.
The week – Blanchat had a remarkable week, helping the Vikings to two wins in three games. Against Hoisington, Chapman and Nickerson, Blanchat scored 76 points and grabbed 31 rebounds. She had a career-high 30 points against both Nickerson and Chapman. She also had four steals against Hoisington and five more against Nickerson.
The season – Blanchat, who will play collegiate volleyball at Southwestern Oklahoma State, is having a strong season. Headed to the midseason Sterling Invitational, Blanchat is averaging 20.5 points, 11 rebounds, 3.8 steals and 2.1 blocked shots per game. Blanchat has six double-doubles this season; since the holidays, she has averaged 25.5 points per game.
