McPHERSON COUNTY, Kan. — United Way of McPherson County presented 2023 Workplace Campaign awards to five businesses during the month of August.
United Way of McPherson County was started in 1955 and fights for the health, education and financial stability of every person in McPherson County.
United Way is organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes, including, for such purposes as, raising awareness, mobilizing funds, and the making of distributions to organizations that qualify as exempt organizations under section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or corresponding section of any future federal tax code.
The mission of the United Way of McPherson County is to build stronger communities by mobilizing resources in order to amplify and address common concerns for the common good.
The fundraising for the organization’s Partner Agencies is done so that those agencies can focus on providing the needed services in the community. There is an application and allocation process to become a Partner Agency through the United Way.
The Annual Campaign, which runs from Sept. 1 – Jan. 31 every year, is when United Way collects the majority of donations and pledges from the community, individuals and through the Workplace Campaigns held by various businesses.
An integral part of the United Way’s Annual Campaign is the Workplace Campaigns held by many businesses in our county. These Workplace Campaigns differ from business to business as they customize what works best for their employees.
The United Way presents awards in five different areas of giving.
Legacy Award – Largest total amount raised for the campaign. Includes Employee and Employer contributions/pledges/matches.
Awarded to Farmers Alliance Mutual Insurance
Mega Match Award- Largest Percentage Employer Match Per Employee.
Awarded to Dacus Auto Body
Rising Impact Award – Largest Increase from last year’s campaign or a new campaign that raised the most per employee.
Awarded to Farmers State Bank for having a new campaign last year.
Inspired Giving Award – Given for the most creative workplace campaign.
Awarded to CHS McPherson Refinery for donating all entry fees from the golf tournament to the United Way.
Small But Mighty Award – Most raised per employee for businesses with 50 employees or less.
