Four people were killed and four others injured in a Saturday afternoon crash in southern Dickinson County. It happened just before 3 PM on K-4 about four miles west of the K-15 junction or just east of Carlton.
The Kansas Highway Patrol said a vehicle driven by Dawn Peel of Herington was eastbound on K-4 when she crossed the center line and struck a vehicle driven by Adam Henely of Salina.
Peel and two passengers in her vehicle, Nathaniel Henry of Herington and Peggy Sutton of Bartlesville, Oklahoma died in the crash along with a passenger in the Henely vehicle, Denise Henely of Herington.
Adam Henely and two other passengers in his vehicle and one in the Peel vehicle were injured. Two of those injured were taken to a Wichita hospital, one with serious injuries, and two others were treated at the scene.
So far this weekend there have been six killed in crashes on Kansas highways. A Wisconsin man died Saturday when, as he was passing another vehicle on US 75 south of Burlington collided with a pickup as both went onto the shoulder in an unsuccessful attempt to avoid crashing. Two people in the pickup were injured, one seriously.
A Florida man died early Sunday morning when his car, which was going at a high rate of speed, went off US 77 near Junction City and hit a tree, after which it caught on fire.
