McPHERSON, Kan. —  All customers of the McPherson Board of Public Utilities who lost power in Wednesday night’s windstorm have it back. The last of the power to be restored, just to the southwest of McPherson, came back on late this morning.

At the height of the storm, much of the south side of McPherson, mainly from Wall Park west to Chestnut, along with customers to the southwest of McPherson, were without power. Restoration of service in rural areas required rebuilding of about two miles of damaged transmission lines.

Evergy continues to deal with power outages, particularly in Harvey and Sedgwick counties, especially around Sedgwick where many customers still don’t have power. There are also outages in the Peabody area. Elsewhere, Evergy is working to restore power in the Topeka and Leavenworth areas especially hard hit by high winds last night.

Nearly all Midwest Energy customers who lost power have it back. The bulk of their outages were around Geneseo in Rice County where multiple power lines and poles were downed.
