Celebration of 150 Years Since Ancestors Came to US in 1874 – At Eden Mennonite Church, 401 18th Ave., Moundridge, Kansas
Six Swiss Sisters. The Six Swiss Sisters will be making their debut at the Schweitzers and Friends Celebration. These ladies met while singing in college, and they have continued making music. This a cappella ensemble is made up of three sister pairs, all with Swiss Mennonite descent. Kristin Kaufman and Michelle Olson; Addie Regier Kauffman and Erin Graber; Jill Siebert and Megan Siebert.
Christopher Shaw. Pipe organ soloist from Kechi. The program will showcase Eden Mennonite’s Martin Ott pipe organ. Organ pieces will highlight the deep connection of hymnody in the Schweitzer community and feature chorale preludes and also include hymn settings by J. Harold Moyer (North Newton) and Emma Lou Diemer (Kansas City). The program will close with a festive setting and singing of the Hymn Grosser Gott.
Flannelbacks. The Flannelbacks are a bluegrass and folk band that was born in the dorm rooms of Bethel College. Formed in the fall of 2014, the group performs with a mix of guitars, banjos, mandolin, upright bass, harmonica, and harmony voice. Tim Regier, Braden Unruh, Matt Graber.
September River. The trio, September River, consists of husband and wife Doug and Jude Krehbiel and daughter Stefanie (Krehbiel) Giffin. Their musical styles incorporate elements of bluegrass, gospel, blues, acoustic rock, Irish, and folk. They include both spiritual and secular, original and old familiar songs in their repertoire. September River’s sound contains generous helpings of three-part vocal harmonies and a smorgasbord of accompanying instruments such as guitar, banjo, mandolin, bass, dulcimer, penny whistle and percussion.
