McPHERSON, Kan. — McPherson Public School recently recognized the second-year teachers in the district who have been nominated for the Kansas Horizon Award.
The Kansas Horizon Award honors outstanding second-year teachers who have made significant impacts in their classrooms and each nominee had to submit a comprehensive packet showcasing their innovative teaching strategies and dedication to student success.
Elementary nominee Rylee Cunningham is a first grade teacher at Roosevelt Elementary School.
Ms. Cunningham engages with the students through activities that cater to diverse learning styles. Cunningham has created a nurturing environment for her students and is committed to connecting to making them feel valued and inspired.
Secondary nominee Anna Lubbers is a McPherson Middle School math teacher.
Ms. Lubbers dedicates herself to making mathematics enjoyable and accessible to each of her students and encourages critical thinking and problem-solving skills, emphasizing real-world application of math concepts.
