McPHERSON, Kan. — An updated snow and ice control policy was approved by McPherson City Commissioners Tuesday. This policy sets out such things as pre-treatment ahead of winter storms, how snow is plowed, workers scheduled, and states snow removal contractors and businesses can’t plow snow off private property into public streets or alleys.
Priorities for snow plowing are also set out, with the highest priority given to the “mile line” roads such as Main, Maxwell, Centennial, Northview, First and Avenue A along with Kansas Avenue, Oak Street, Grimes from first to Northview, Hospital Drive and West 4th leading to McPherson Center for Health, Woodside west of Ash, and the central business district.
On school days streets around schools are added to the top priority list.
Second priority is given to ”collector” streets such as all of Maple and Walnut and sections of Ash Street outside the downtown area, Hickory Street, Euclid, Hulse, Oak Park Drive, Baer, North High Drive and others.
