McPHERSON, Kan. — McPherson Board of Public Utilities General Manager Josh Bedel gave an update on current projects to the City Commission Tuesday.
Outside line crews are continuing to work on line rebuilds along 15th Avenue between Comanche and Chisholm Roads west of Elyria, and along Hulse west of North High Drive. Underground crews are continuing to work on overhead to underground conversion of lines in the area west of Washington Elementary School.
Bedel said letters have been sent to residents along a three-phase transmission line that runs from near the water tower at Ash and Euclid east to Maxwell. This will replace a more than 50-year-old line, and the work will require removal of some fences, sheds, and some 30-40 trees that are in the city’s utility easement. Water crews are expecting to finish a project on South Main this week, after which they will put in a new hydrant at Fire Station 2.
Bedel also reported crews have completed about 2/3rds of the contacts they are needing to do for a survey of lead and copper water lines in the city, an EPA mandate.
