Postseason basketball returns to Fleske Fieldhouse as Barton hosts Region 6 openers

The Barton Community College basketball teams will open postseason play on their home floor as both programs host opening matchups in the upcoming Region 6/Plains District Tournament.

The Lady Cougars (14-16) earned the tournament’s No. 7 seed and will host 10th-seeded Cloud County Community College (14-15) in a first-round contest 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Fleske Fieldhouse. The winner advances to Tuesday’s quarterfinal round, traveling to face No. 2 seed and ninth-ranked Dodge City Community College (25-4).

The No. 17 ranked Cougar men (22-8) secured the tournament’s top overall seed and will enjoy home-court advantage throughout their playoff run. Barton will host a quarterfinal matchup Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. against the winner of the first-round game between No. 8 seed Cloud County Community College (17-13) and No. 9 seed Garden City Community College (17-13).

Quarterfinal winners in both the men’s and women’s brackets advance to Great Bend, where Barton will host the semifinal and championship rounds beginning Friday, March 13, inside Fleske Fieldhouse.

Barton season ticket holders and parking passes will be honored through the quarterfinal round. Ticket prices are $12 per day for reserved seating, $7 per game for general admission, and $4 for K-12 students, with Pre-K admitted free. Live streaming will also be available at $8 per contest.

Once the tournament reaches the semifinal round, all ticketing and live streaming will be conducted through the KJCCC.
