The Larned girls basketball team fought off a second-half rally by the Southwestern Heights Mustangs to prevail 35-32 Tuesday night at Larned.
The Larned boys also won a nail-biter 58-56 over Southwestern Heights.
The Larned girls (10-4) led at halftime 22-11 after a 12-3 run in the second quarter. The Mustangs (11-2) outscored the Indians 10-5 in the third quarter and 11-8 in the fourth quarter.
Cassidy Wachs led Larned with 12 points and Jadyn Crosby scored 11. Layla Kisner led the Mustangs with 10 points.
The Larned boys withstood a 21-14 run by the Mustangs in the fourth quarter after leading 17-11 at the end the first quarter, 28-23 at halftime and 44-35 after three quarters.
Kylier Greene led the Larned boys (6-8) with 16 points. Andres Martinez scored 10 points, Tristan Regan 8, Luke Krehbiel 7 and Landis Hagerman 6.
Isaac Amerin led the Mustang boys (8-6) with 16 points. Memo Tllez scored 10 points.
Larned hosts Hays-Thomas More Prep-Marian on Friday and Hillsboro on Tuesday. The Indians play at Hesston on Feb. 6.
The TMP girls defeated Great Bend 50-32 on Tuesday and improved to 8-5. The Great Bend boys defeated TMP 75-62.
Southwestern Heights plays at Sublette Friday, hosts Cimarron on Saturday, plays at Lakin on Tuesday, plays at Stanton County on Feb. 6 and hosts Holcomb on Feb. 7.
