Larned Girls, Boys Sweep Kinsley on Day 2 of Keady Classic

The Larned High School girls and boys basketball teams were both winners Tuesday night on Day 2 of the 19th annual Gene Keady Classic.

The Larned girls defeated Kinsley 49-13 and the Larned boys downed Kinsley 56-55.

The Larned girls were led by Jadyn Crosby with 19 points and Lauren Sleder with 18. Zayle Rice scored 8 of Kinsley’s 13 points.

Andres Martinez led the Larned boys with 17 points. Anthony Gonzalez tallied 10 points and Grady Pinkston 8. Joey Prieto led Holcomb with 20 points. Jonathan Meza scored 13 and Ty Clawson 8.

Holcomb’s girls defeated Plainville 75-29 and the Holcomb boys beat Plainville 75-37.

The Larned Keady Classic is named in honor of Basketball Hall of Fame member Gene Keady, an alumnus of Larned High School, Garden City Community College and Kansas State University.

Keady is a former head coach at Beloit High School, Hutchinson Community College, Western Kentucky and Purdue University.

He also served as an assistant coach for the University of Arkansas, St. John’s University, the 2000 U.S. Olympic Men’s Dream Team and the Toronto Raptors.
