The Barton Community College women’s golf team continued its stellar fall campaign by claiming the Falcon Cup Classic championship held Monday and Tuesday at Wichita’s Auburn Hills Golf Course.
Posting its fifth round of 300 or better this season, the Cougars fired consistent rounds of 300 and 301 on their longest course of the year for a 25-over 601 total on the par-72 layout, extending their opening-round lead to secure a 10-stroke victory over runner-up Garden City Community College’s 611.
Pacing Barton’s dominance with five players inside the top six of the 21-entry field, sophomore Diana Alvarado recorded her third top-two finish of the fall season, taking runner-up honors at 4-over 148 following a career-best-tying 69 card on Monday with a final round 79.
Chomchanok Laparojkit and Panalee Prachavittayagon shared third at 153, Laparojkit carding 72–81 while Prachavittayagon rebounded by tying her collegiate-best 73 after an opening 80.
Suri Rocha Orozco and Giovanna Tabanag rounded out the top five in a tie at 154, Orozco shooting 79–75 while Tabanag opened with an 80 before resetting her personal best with a 2-over 74.
Competing individually, Alexandria Hunt and Alexandria Baxter each posted personal-best 79 rounds on Monday, Hunt adding an 84 on Tuesday to finish 11th at 163 while Baxter followed with an 86 to place 12th at 165. Kadynce Nash (83–87) rounded out Barton’s entries in 14th place at 170.
Barton will next travel to Brenham, Texas, rounding out a busy fall season at the two-day Blinn Invitational, beginning Monday at Brenham Country Club.
