HAYS, Kan. — Thanks to the support of Fort Hays State University alumni and Tiger fans, the university’s sixth annual Giving Day was an extraordinary success. Preliminary results show that approximately 900 gifts were made, totaling $180,000.
“This outpouring of generosity represents a shared belief in the power of education and the life-changing impact of investing in students,” said Dane Dreiling, FHSU Foundation Director of Annual Giving. “We are grateful for a community that believes in the importance of giving back, paying it forward to students who need a hand, and creating transformative experiences that they might not have otherwise.”
Student scholarships were the primary focus of this year’s Giving Day, and the majority of gifts were directed toward expanding scholarship opportunities. Donors also had the option to support other areas of FHSU that matter most to them, including academic departments, athletic programs, and student organizations.
Each year, the Fort Hays State University Foundation has businesses and organizations come forward wanting to help, and this year was no exception. To assist in the promotion of Giving Day, Adams Brown, a local CPA firm, offered their employees a match. The incentive was initiated and made possible by FHSU alumni within Adams Brown leadership, and the match led to a $10,000 gift to Fort Hays State. Adams Brown is a longtime supporter of the university, having given more than $80,000 over the years.
“We wanted to create an easy way for our employees to participate in Giving Day and amplify the impact of their generosity,” said Brian DeWitt, a Principal at Adams Brown. “The matching gift was designed to support Fort Hays State students while reinforcing our firm’s commitment to investing in a university that we have been blessed to be a longtime partner with.”
