GREAT BEND, Kan. — The City of Great Bend has announced the theme for the 2024 Home for the Holidays Parade: “Creating Christmas Traditions”, which honors Grand Marshal Sarah Krom for dedicating so much time over the years to preserving the Christmas Parade tradition.
The festival, marking the start of the Christmas season in Great Bend, is scheduled for Nov. 30, 2024, the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
Key attractions include Santa’s arrival at the Santa’s Around the World Building on Main Street and a variety of holiday activities throughout the day, such as the Rosewood Services Cookie Contest, the Dilly & Doc Pop-Up Market, and the Window Decorating Contest. The lighted parade will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Main Street, followed by after-parade festivities like the Mayor’s Tree Lighting, free hot dogs and hot chocolate, ice skating, horse-drawn wagon rides, and trolley rides.
Participants can also visit Santa and explore Santas Around the World, with prize announcements for the Cookie Contest and Explore Great Bend Month. The event concludes with the opening of the Trail of Lights.
The festival encourages community participation, support for local businesses, and the celebration of holiday traditions.
