Softball Gets Season Underway

Wyandotte, OK – Was a beautiful Thursday afternoon to kick off the season for the Panther Softball team, in game one of the double header the Panthers fell to the NEO Lady Norse, 6–2. The Panthers struck first in the top of the first inning when Anna Eberle worked a walk and later came around to score. NEO answered right back in the bottom half, taking a 2–1 lead after a RBI single and a sacrifice fly. NEO added to their lead and held control the rest of the way. Madison Davison took the loss for Neosho, throwing three innings and allowing two runs on one hit. Offensively, Abbi Godfrey led the Panthers with two hits, while Eberle showed patience at the plate with two walks. Neosho finished the game with five walks overall.

In game two Neosho took a 13–5 loss to the NEO Lady Norse on Thursday in game two of the doubleheader. NEO jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the first, stringing together timely hits and capitalizing on opportunities to plate six runs. The Lady Norse added another run in the second to make it 7–0. However, Neosho responded with disciplined at-bats and steady offense as the game went on, finishing with six walks and consistent pressure on the bases. Anna Eberle led the Panthers at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2, while Jayden Willard drove in three runs in the top of the 6th to cut the lead to 9-5, but NEO answered back with four runs of their own, making the final 13-5. Abbi Godfrey and Willard each drew two walks as Neosho continued to work counts and extend innings.
