The Allen Community College Red Devils progressively improved throughout the evening until culminating in a 66-54 victory Wednesday.
The Allen Red Devils remain undefeated in the Jayhawk Conference following Wednesday’s 66-54 victory over the Fort Scott Greyhounds.
The Red Devils improved as the game went on, incrementally increasing the previous quarter’s production until they ended the evening with a 22-point fourth quarter.
Sophomore center Yolaine Luthi and freshman guard Jennyfer Gros provided Allen a 1-2 punch in the paint and the perimeter as the pair combined for 28-points. Luthi had a team-leading 15 points and was second to sophomore forward Joniya Lewis in rebounds with six to Luthi’s five. Gros posted 13 points and a team-leading five steals. Sophomore forward Tawhirikura Doyle was Allen’s jack-of-all-trades with 10 points, five rebounds, two steals and two assists.
With the win, the Red Devils improved to 11-5 overall and 3-0 in Jayhawk Conference play while Fort Scott fell to 1-10 and 0-2 in the conference. Allen returns to the hardwood Saturday when they face local rival Neosho County Community College (12-7, 2-0) for a 2 p.m. tip-off.
