CHARLOTTE, NC – After being upset in the NJCAA Division 2 Region 6/9 Men’s Soccer Championship match, the Neosho County Community College men’s soccer team learned their season was extended on Monday night after receiving one of four at-large bids into the 2025 NJCAA Division 2 Men’s Soccer Championship field.
The Panthers earned the number six seed in the 12-team field and were placed in Pool C alongside number three seed Mercer County (NJ) and number 10 seed Pellissippi State (TN). Other teams to receive at-large berths to the National Tournament included number three seed Mercer County, number five seed and defending National Champion Northeast Community College (NE), and number seven seed Pima (AZ).
This season, Neosho County holds a 14-1-3 overall record, with their lone loss coming to Johnson County Community College in the Region 6/9 Tournament title match. The lone National Tournament qualifier that NCCC has played this year was number 12 seed St. Louis Community College, earning a 3-0 win at the Midwest North Showcase during the opening weekend of the season in Westfield, Indiana.
As the number six seed in Pool C, Neosho County will not open their national tournament until Monday, November 17th when the Panthers take on number 10 seed Pellissippi State at 3:00 PM at the Scheels Stryker Sports Complex in Wichita, Kansas. The Panthers are 14-2-0 overall this season after winning the NJCAA D2 Southeast District Tournament over Georgia Military College to earn an automatic bid to the National Tournament. Neosho County will then turn around the next day and play the number three seed, Mercer County Community College Mustangs, who are 17-0-1 this season following a 2-2 tie in the NJCAA Northeast District Title match against St. Clair Community College that saw the Skippers advance on Penalty Kicks.
The winner of each of the four pools will advance to the NJCAA Division 2 Men’s Soccer Semifinals, with the top remaining seed taking on the lowest remaining seed while the middle two remaining seeds play each other in the other semifinal match. Semifinal round matchups will take place on Thursday, November 20th, with the winners of each semifinal match facing off in the 2025 NJCAA Division 2 Men’s Soccer National Championship Match on Saturday, November 22nd.
Last year, Neosho County advanced to the NJCAA Division 2 Men’s Soccer National Championship match before falling to Northeast Community College by a score of 2-1 in Huntsville, Alabama.
