Highland, KS – The Neosho County Panthers hit the road Monday, March 3, traveling to Highland for the opening round of the Region VI Conference Tournament. In a competitive matchup, the Panthers came away with a hard-fought 73–68 victory, securing their spot in the semifinals.
Neosho County relied on a balanced offensive effort and strong defensive plays down the stretch to seal the win. Several Panthers delivered standout performances to help power the team past Highland. Jayce Cooper led the way with 14 points and 9 rebounds, providing a strong presence on both ends of the floor. Raziel Taylor contributed 13 points and 7 assists, effectively directing the offense and creating opportunities for teammates. Cooper Weeks added 13 points and 4 rebounds, while Adyn Prophete scored 10 points, shooting an efficient 50% from the field. On the defensive end, Champ Powaukee made his impact felt with 10 points, 3 steals, and 3 blocks, helping the Panthers maintain momentum in key moments.
With the victory, Neosho County advances to the Region VI Semifinals. The Panthers will face Allen County on Friday, March 6, at Kansas City Kansas Community College (KCKCC). Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. The winner of Friday’s semifinal matchup will move onto the Region VI championship to take on the winner of Fort Scott and Johnson County.
