Fort Scott, Ks – The Neosho County Community College Women’s Basketball team put together a dominant performance Tuesday night, defeating Fort Scott Community College 79-59 inside Arnold Arena to improve to 17-8 overall and 7-1 in the KJCCC.
After trailing 16-12 at the end of the first quarter, the Panthers flipped the switch in the second. Neosho outscored Fort Scott 26-10 in the second quarter, taking a 38-26 lead into halftime and never looking back.
The third quarter was even more explosive, as the Panthers poured in 27 points, shooting an impressive 61.1% from the field and 71.4% from three in the period.
Neosho finished the night shooting 41.8% from the field and a strong 48.1% from beyond the arc, knocking down 13 three-pointers.
The Panthers also capitalized on mistakes, scoring 28 points off turnovers, while their bench contributed a huge 33 points.
Leading the way offensively was Kaozong Yang, who caught fire from deep, finishing with 17 points and five three-pointers.
Bauke Graulus added 15 points, while Sophia Mireles chipped in 11.
The Panthers also got balanced contributions throughout the lineup. Chloe Parker scored 8 points, and Jaida Harris provided 8 points off the bench, including a key fourth-quarter three.
Inside, Neosho controlled the paint with 30 points in the lane and built a lead as large as 25 points in the third quarter.
Defensively, Neosho held Fort Scott to just 31.7% shooting from the floor and limited the Greyhounds to only three made three-pointers on the night.
The Panthers’ defensive pressure and rebounding effort sealed the road conference win.
The Panthers return home on Wednesday, February 18th, when they host Allen County Community College. Tip-off is set for 5:30 PM as Neosho looks to defend its home court and keep the conference momentum rolling.
