Winter Storm Watch Issued for All of Southeast Kansas Friday Afternoon into Early Sunday

A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for all of southeast Kansas starting in most areas Friday afternoon into early Sunday morning, and an extreme cold watch is also up from Friday morning into early Monday morning for Allen, Neosho, Wilson and Woodson counties.

Snow is expected to start moving to the area sometime Friday evening, and continue into the early hours of Sunday. Forecast accumulations for the area are between 4-7 inches, maybe a bit less towards Mound City.

The other threat is for bitterly cold wind chills that will set in Thursday night and stay strong through Friday. As of now wind chills are forecast to be as low as -20, and temperatures Friday night through Monday morning are not expected to get out of the single digits.
