Public Health Advisory for Lake Parsons

SHARE NOW

NEOSHO COUNTY, Kan. — The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has issued a public health watch for Lake Parsons in the southeast corner of Neosho County for toxic blue green algae.

A public health watch means a harmful algae bloom is possible and may be present, and water unsafe for humans and animals. Algae blooms should be avoided along with any contract with dried algae.

Boating and fishing remain safe but direct contact with water should be avoided along with water spray. Swimming, wading, skiing and jet skiing are discouraged near visible blooms.

Fish caught from Lake Parsons should be cleaned thoroughly with potable water and eat the fillet portion only.
