A Humboldt man was struck and killed by a train Wednesday morning near Mildred.
According to the Allen County Sheriff’s Office, deputies, along with EMS and the Kansas Highway Patrol, were dispatched at 7:53 a.m. to a location just east of US 59, where on arrival a deceased subject was found beside the tracks.
Preliminary investigation indicated the victim, identified as Dustin Vanatta, was struck by a southbound Union Pacific train.
An investigation into the circumstances is ongoing.
