IOLA, Kan. — The Iola Veterans Day Committee is inviting veterans and one guest to an evening of appreciation with a sit-down dinner and entertainment. This event, dedicated to honoring the bravest, is limited to the first 50 veterans and their guests. To secure a seat at the third annual Veterans Day Mess Call, an RSVP is required. Dinner will be served at 18:00 (6 p.m.), featuring live entertainment by the Iola Jazz Band. The meal is catered by G&W Foods and served by the Allen Community College Softball Team.
Guests can choose from a menu that includes fried chicken, smoked brisket, or vegetable lasagna, accompanied by cheesy potatoes, green beans, a dinner salad, a dinner roll, and dessert, with sugar-free options available.
The community is encouraged to join in honoring veterans on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2024. The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. behind the Veterans Wall on the square. In case of inclement weather, the program will move to the North Community Building at 505 N. Buckeye St., in Iola.
