CHANUTE, Kan. — Chanute Police made two arrests Tuesday in separate cases, each involving multiple charges
One of the arrests was the result of an investigation into child sex crimes launched in March. 21-year-old Dakota Pearson of Chanute was taken into custody on suspicion of rape of a child under 14 years of age, aggravated criminal sodomy, and aggravated indecent liberties with a child.
The second arrest came after police went to the 3300 block of Blue Comet Drive to serve an arrest warrant. Matric Scott, 24, of Kincaid took off from officers but was apprehended after a brief foot chase.
Scott is facing potential charges including felony interference, criminal use of a weapon, criminal carry of knuckles, criminal use of an explosive, and possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia along with the warrant.
Both cases will be referred to the Neosho County Attorney’s Office for review and determination of any charges to be filed.
