IOLA, Kan. (Sept. 12, 2025) — Allen Community College is pleased to announce the appointment of Sonia Gugnani as the new Grant Administrator and Government Relations Officer.
Gugnani brings over two decades of progressive experience in higher education, with a strong background in academic leadership, student success, and institutional effectiveness.
Most recently, she served as the Vice President of Academic Affairs at Fort Scott Community College, where she oversaw academic operations including curriculum development, accreditation, faculty support, strategic partnerships, and program assessment.
She played a key role in strengthening academic programs, expanding dual-credit and university transfer pathways, and helping students connect classroom learning to real-world career opportunities.
Gugnani has worked extensively with grant-funded programs, leading efforts in application development, data collection, and reporting. These efforts have supported successful funding for both academic and career-focused initiatives.
She has also served as the Associate Dean of Instruction and Instructional Effectiveness and Director of Institutional Effectiveness and Outreach, where she cultivated a culture of continuous improvement and supported faculty through professional development, curriculum design, and data-informed instructional strategies.
In addition to her administrative leadership, Gugnani has a strong academic foundation in psychology and has taught a variety of college-level courses with a focus on inclusive, student-centered pedagogy.
She holds a Master of Science in Psychology from Gurukul Kangri University and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Panjab University, both in India. She has also completed leadership development programs through the Kansas Community College Leadership Initiative and the Bourbon County Leadership Academy.
