Beau Towell rushed for 165 yards and three touchdowns, and the senior quarterback also threw for a touchdown, leading Trinity Catholic to a 30-14 win Friday over Belle Plaine at Father Prichard Field.

Towell started strong, capping off the first drive of the season with a 1-yard touchdown run.

The next drive, Towell fired a 15-yard touchdown pass to Adahir Guerrero, a sophomore who has now scored a rushing touchdown, a receiving touchdown, and a kickoff return for a score in his young career.

Belle Plaine got back in the game with a touchdown late in the second quarter, closing the gap to 14-8.

But the Celtics outscored the Dragons 16-0 in the third quarter, getting a pair of Towell touchdown runs, and Guerrero and Towell added two-point conversion runs.

The Celtics dominated statistically, getting 265 yards of offense and 19 first downs, compared to 143 yards and six first downs for Belle Plaine.

Trinity’s win was its ninth in the last 12 games. The Celtics will welcome reigning Class 1A state champion Sterling to Hutchinson next week.
