The Hutchinson High girls basketball team battled Derby well into the second half Tuesday, but Derby ended up with its 11th win in 13 games as the Panthers beat the Salthawks 58-42.
Hutchinson trailed 31-30 at halftime. Danai Morgan had a big first half, scoring 13 of her 18 points in the first 16 minutes. Derby then dominated the third quarter, outscoring Hutch 16-6.
Hutch managed just 12 second-half points.
The Salthawks fell to 6-5. They’ll play next week in their midseason tournament.
