Nine Hutchinson High boys wrestlers qualified for the Class 5A state tournament this coming Friday and Saturday in Park City. They competed at the 5A Hays Regional, which was as deep as any wrestling regional.
The Salthawks, who finished third with 161 points, had one individual champion in Cruz Cannon at 126 pounds. Cannon won all four matches, including a 4-2 win the championship match over Goddard’s Harrison Glover, 4-2.
Jackson Anderson was regional runner-up at 190 pounds. Other Salthawks to qualify for state included Dion Brown, who was third at 106; Max Harris, who was third at 175; Cooper Harris, who was fourth at 150; James Hill, who was fifth at 215; Karson Etienne, who was sixth at 175; Zach Allen, who was seventh at 120; and Jai Maciel, who was eighth at 138.
