Boys soccer – The Salthawks earned two quality results in the last week, first winning 2-1 at Andover Central before earning a 1-1 tie with Newton.
The Salthawks are now 3-1-1, and they will next play Thursday at the Salthawk Activity Complex against Andover.
Girls tennis – Behind a runner-up finish from No. 1 doubles team of Ayla Booe and Ellie Foos, the Salthawks finished in second place at the Campus Varsity Meet.
The Salthawks finished with 20 points, finishing only behind McPherson, which swept all four divisions.
Booe and Foos won their first two matches 8-1 and 8-5 before falling 8-3 in the championship to McPherson’s Avery Unruh and Quinn Liebl.
Hutchinson’s No. 2 doubles team of Addison Lewis and Payzlee Regier also came in second place.
In singles, No. 1 singles player Rylee Miller went 2-1 and finished fifth, while No. 2 singles player Maggie Kaplan also went 2-1, finishing third.
Girls golf – Senior Ava Burlie carded a 90, finishing in 14th place and leading the Salthawks to a sixth-place finish at the Dodge City Invitational on Sept. 10 at Mariah Hills Golf Course.
Senior Brynn Hall finished just outside the top 20, finishing with a 98 and in 21st place.
The Salthawks finished with a 401 team score.
Girls volleyball – The Salthawks split a pair of AVCTL Division 1 matches on Tuesday at the Salthawk Activity Center.
Hutch first swept Derby 25-19, 25-18 and then fell in a three-set thriller to Salina South, 28-25, 27-25, 25-22.
The Salthawks are now 6-5 and will play Saturday at Maize.
Cross County – The Salthawks competed on Saturday in Emporia. On the boys side, Ethan Holmes was the highest finisher for Hutch, coming in 76th in a time of 17 minutes, 52.35 seconds.
On the girls side, Avery Tecklenberg led the Salthawks in a time of 21:37.5
