The Hutchinson High girls went toe to toe with one of the state’s best teams on Thursday, but Andover had a strong fourth quarter and came back to beat the Salthawks 46-39.
Andover improved to 21-1 and will be the top seed in the Class 5A West substate.
Hutchninson led 22-18 at halftime, with Danai Morgan scoring 10 of her 17 points. Hutchinson still led 29-27 after three quarters before Andover outscored Hutch 19-10.
Tenley Keeton scored 11 for Hutch, which fell to 11-10. The Salthawks will be the No. 10 seed in substate and will travel to Andover Central next week. Central won 45-31 in the second game of the season.
