The Salina Sacred Heart girls turned on the offense in the second and third quarters Friday in Salina, and the Knights pulled away for a 54-23 win over Trinity Catholic.
Trinity’s 2-3 zone defense was strong early, as the Celtics trailed 11-5 after one quarter. But then the Knights’ full-court press led to steals and layups. The 3-point shooting heated up, too, as the Knights drained six 3-pointers.
Nicole Richards led Sacred Heart with 14 points. Brecken Dowsey had eight points for the Celtics, continuing her improved and reliable scoring since the holidays.
The Celtics fall to 0-15, while Sacred Heart improved to 13-3.
