Lamar Govain poured in 27 points, and the Hutchinson High boys shook off a challenge from Newton on Friday, as the Salthawks won 69-65.
Hutchinson had the lead for much of the game, but couldn’t shake the Railers, who fell to 1-21.
Govain hit some late free throws to help secure the win.
Larry Jeremiah, Jr., scored 18 points for the Salhawks and Jalen Grable scored 11.
Hutchinson improved to 7-13 and will return home Tuesday to take on Maize.
