Blue Dragon Women Climb to No. 8 in USTFCCCA Rankings

The Hutchinson Community College women’s cross country team entered national Top 10 for the second time this season on Wednesday.

The Blue Dragons climbed to No. 8 in the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association NJCAA Division I Women’s Rankings.

Hutchinson started the season ranked No. 15 in the preseason rankings and has been ranked No. 10, No. 11 and now No. 8 in the three regular season polls.

The Dragons haven’t posted a team score in their last two meets competing with only four runners.

Hutchinson had two Top 5 runners on Saturday at the FHSU Tiger Open. Freshman Mildred Rono was second at the Tiger open with a 5K school record time of 16:41.09. Freshman Ashara Frater placed fifth with a time of 17:55.43.

The Blue Dragons next compete at the 2025 Region 6 Outdoor Championships on November 24 in Colby.

Hutchinson is the highest ranked of six Jayhawk Conference teams in this week’s rankings. Butler is No. 12, followed by Garden City at No. 13, Cloud County at No. 19, Dodge City at No. 21 and Colby at No. 25.

The Top 5 once again has Odessa at No. 1, Iowa Western at No. 2, New Mexico Junior College at No. 3, El Paso at No. 4 and College of Southern Idaho at No. 5.
