HALSTEAD, Kan. — Congratulations to this week’s Ad Astra Radio Athlete of the Week, Halstead’s Kaci Young.
The week – Young had a strong performance at the USSSA Nationals earlier this month. In seven games, Young batted .429, scored eight runs and had seven RBIs. She also pitched in three games, sporting a 2.10 ERA with 14 strikeouts, which helped the Central Kansas Crushers finish in fourth place.
The season – Young, who finished up her senior year at Halstead and will play softball at Hutchinson Community College, batted .470 for Halstead. She had a 2.10 ERA and struck out 163 batters. She had 463 strikeouts for her career, which included no sophomore season due to injury. Young was also a starter for Halstead’s state-championship girls basketball team.
