HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Vieyra Honors Foundation (VHF), in collaboration with Friendly Bingo, are joining forces to host a Veterans Day Weekend Fundraiser in Downtown Hutch on November 9th. The event will kick off with the pancake feed from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Friendly Bingo located at 106 W. 1st.
All proceeds from the pancake feed will go towards Reno County veterans program awareness and initiatives in alignment with VHF’s mission and vision. Starting at 1:15 p.m., bingo games will begin with a portion of proceeds going to VHF.
VHF is in its 3rd year of honoring Reno County Veterans by displaying 87 Veterans Honor Banners in Downtown Hutch. Banners are displayed mid-September thru Veterans Day each year. In addition to the Veterans Honor Banners Program, VHF hosts an annual fundraiser each year as well.
When planning this year’s fundraiser, Marla Booher, VHF President said, “Friendly Bingo has been a huge supporter of nonprofits throughout our community. I began talking with Jon Powell about collaborating on a pancake feed almost a year ago. He and his team at Friendly Bingo were all in and offered to co-host as well as provide the event space. Adding bingo to the event became a no brainer. They all have adopted our ‘Honoring All Who Serve’ mentality as their priority during this process and are wonderful to work with!”
IHOP, Tyson’s, Metropolitan Coffee, Jackson Dairy and Kroger have all provided donations to help make this event possible as well. Funds raised by VHF have been used to sponsor Veteran focused fundraisers and other Veterans organizations, like KS4Vets.
VHF is also sponsoring a Veterans Day Film Series at The Historic Fox Theater this November.
