Cases of the intestinal disease Cyclospora is trending up across the Sunflower State
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment announced this week that the number of confirmed cases has risen to 461. Symptoms of the virus include diarrhea, nausea, and fatigue.
KDHE says the number of confirmed cases has risen from 289 a week ago to 461, with 20 hospitalizations in connection to the virus.
The CDC recommends washing all fruits and vegetables thoroughly under running water before eating, cutting, or cooking.
Scrub firm fruits and vegetables, such as melons and cucumbers, with a clean produce brush and refrigerate cut, peeled, or cooked fruits and vegetables as soon as possible.
