Man Shoots at Father and Daughter After Daughter’s Vehicle Gets Stuck in Ditch, Sheriff’s Office Says

RENO COUNTY, Kan. — According to a statement from the Reno County Sheriff’s Office, Reno County Deputies responded to a shooting call at approximately 7:46 p.m. on Saturday, June 29 around Trail West Road and Landon Road in Reno County.

Douglas Hall reported that his daughter was following him home after working in the field and the vehicle she was driving happened to get stuck in the ditch. 

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Thomas Morrison also lives in the area. Morrison allegedly fired four shots from a .22 caliber revolver directly towards Hall and his daughter and another two shots from a long rifle.

Hall was able to remove the stuck vehicle and contacted 911. Investigators discovered that the two men know one another and don’t get along.

Authorities booked Morrison into custody on suspicion of Attempted 1st degree Homicide, Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated child endangerment.

This is an isolated incident, no injuries were reported, and it is still under investigation.
