LINDSBORG, Kan. — Dell Marie Shanahan Swearer, Chief Operating Officer of Hutchinson Community Foundation, has been presented the Carol Foreman Medal of Civility from the Kansas Women Attorneys Association.
The Carol Foreman Medal of Civility specifies that “The recipient must have behaved and carried out the professional actions and duties as a lawyer or judge with civility, ethics and respect to others at all times such that the individual serves as an example of dignity and honor to our legal profession.”
Hard work and modesty, it is said, were two of Carol’s strongest characteristics.
In receiving the medal, Dell Marie was described as someone who “always steps up and uses her work ethic, her legal training and her people skills to make everything she touches better.” She was also called humble, creative, encouraging, civil, respectful, a smart analyzer, a barrier breaker and a bridge builder. Also noted were Dell Marie’s crack preparation and organizational skills.
The presentation, which was a surprise to her, was made during the association’s recent annual conference in Lindsborg.
