HUTCHINSON, Kan., – July 7, 2026 — Nebraska has become the latest state to officially recognize Antique Tractor Preservation Day, as Governor Jim Pillen today proclaimed August 22, 2026, as Antique Tractor Preservation Day in the State of Nebraska. The proclamation recognizes the nationally established observance date of August 22 and marks another milestone in the growing effort to preserve and promote America’s agricultural heritage.

The proclamation was drafted by Michael Hinton, Founder of National Antique Tractor Preservation Day, on behalf of John Schoenauer of Nebraska, who submitted it to Governor Pillen for consideration.

Hinton said the proclamation’s recognition of U.S. Senator Roger Marshall and his September 25, 2024, statement entered into the Congressional Record (Vol. 170, No. 150, pp. S6428–S6429) was especially meaningful. In that official statement, Senator Marshall commemorated Antique Tractor Preservation Day, expressed his support for the national agricultural heritage initiative, and acknowledged Hinton’s efforts to preserve and promote America’s agricultural history.

“I am sincerely grateful to Governor Pillen for recognizing Antique Tractor Preservation Day in Nebraska and for helping preserve the state’s rich agricultural heritage,” said Hinton. “I am equally thankful to Senator Roger Marshall for his longstanding friendship, encouragement, and unwavering support. His Congressional recognition has been instrumental in elevating Antique Tractor Preservation Day into a nationally recognized observance and bringing greater awareness to the importance of preserving America’s agricultural history for future generations.”

Earlier today, Hinton spoke with Kristine Hulse, Administrative Assistant to Governor Pillen, who shared that the Governor was genuinely pleased to sign the proclamation and that doing so brought back many fond memories of his agricultural upbringing. Hulse also informed Hinton that the original signed proclamation has been mailed to him for historical preservation and archival purposes.
