The Frontier Extension District and Osage Garden and Produce invite the public to a meeting to discuss how to start seeds indoors for your garden. The meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m. at Osage Garden and Produce, located at 1048 Laing St., Osage City, KS.
Lauren Gammill, Horticulture and Natural Resources Agent for Frontier District, will discuss why different mixes are used when starting seeds indoors. She will talk about what these mixes contain, how they help the seedling, and then allow participants to make their own soilless seed starting mix to bring home and use this spring.
Osage Garden and Produce owner, Becky Siljenberg, will talk about all the materials you need when starting seeds, how to create a good environment for the seedlings in your home, how to choose varieties and time out your plantings, and ways to tackle the issues that arise when starting seeds indoors.
