Wrestling Results: Buhler, Haven, and Nickerson Wrestlers Compete at Pratt Tournament

Nickerson High School’s Kristopher Monroe Jr. posted a 3-0 record and captured first place in the 165-pound weight class Saturday at the Pratt Invitational wrestling tournament.

The Nickerson and Haven boys wrestling teams tied for 11th in the Pratt Invitational Saturday with 52 points. Buhler finished 13th with 50 points.

Monroe pinned Goddard Eisenhower’s Abe Starnes at the 4:42 mark and Augusta’s Dalton Apel 1:44 into the match. Monroe claimed the 165-pound weight class title with a 19-5 technical fall over Clearwater’s Emmit Ohlde.

Nickerson’s Connor White went 3-2 at 157 pounds, Aiden Brinkley 2-2 at 120, Kobane Smith 2-2 at 175, Aaden Vedder 1-2 at 150 and Evan Trostle 0-2 at 138. They did not place.

Buhler’s Jacob Burklow placed third at 190 pounds with a 3-1 record and Max Harmony was fourth at 157 points at 4-1.

Not placing were Josh Mullen (2-2 at 126 pounds), Braylon North (2-2 at 144), Hendrix Blackburn (2-2 at 150) and Remington England (2-2 at 175).

Haven’s Tanner Loughrie placed second at 132 pounds with a 2-1 record and Dante De Vigilio placed fourth at 113 pounds with a 2-2 record.

Not placing for Haven were Tucker Rogers (2-2 at 120), John Williams (2-2 at 138), Welden Stanley (1-2 at 150), Ayden Romero (1-2 at 157) and Aiden Herald (no record listed at 165).

Wichita Bishop Carroll captured the Pratt Invitational championship with 193.5 points. Andale clipped Augusta 163.5 to 162.5 for second place.

Bishop Carroll claimed four first-place individual finishes and three third-pace effort. Andale also had four titles and three third-place efforts. Augusta had two firsts, one second, two thirds and two fourths.

Ulysses placed fourth with 112.5 points, followed by Ulysses 112.5, Hugotom 99.5, Liberal 96, Goddard Eisenhower 80.5, Wichita Northwest 73.5, Clearwater 57.5 and Holcomb 53.

Stafford placed 14th with 38 points, followed by Hoisington 37, Wichita South 35, Towanda-Circle 29, Pratt 25, Whitewater-Remington 7 and Kingman 0.

Pratt’s lone medalist was Kameron Cox, who placed fourth at 132 pounds with a 3-2 record.

Not placing for the host team Greenbacks were Teagan Richardson (2-2 at 106 pounds), German Orantes (0-2 at 120), Wyatt Hopkins (0-2 at 126), Matthew James (2-2 at 138), Isaac Dye (0-2 at 144), Rainer Guevara (0-2 at 150) and Dustin Winter (0-2 at 165).
