BALDWIN CITY, Kan. (MacBulldogs.com) —The McPherson College Bulldogs fell to the Baker University Wildcats Wednesday (Aug. 30), 5-1 in Baldwin City, Kan.
“When you start the game with no intensity, you cannot expect to compete at a high level,” head coach Mark Olson said. “The goals given up this evening were effort type goals, and tonight we just didn’t have it.”
Baker took the lead midway through the first half when Aubree Koren scored in the 22nd minute. The Wildcats then extended it to a 3-0 advantage late in the period with two goals in a span of 86 seconds.
The Wildcats put up one two more in the first 12 minutes of the second frame, before Olivia Rodriguez netted her third goal of the season in the 70th minute.
“This team has the ability to play very well and we showed that after going down a player in the second half. That’s when we created our scoring opportunities.”
The Bulldogs are back in action on Labor Day (Sep. 4) when they travel to Oklahoma City to take on Mid-America Christian University. Kickoff is slated for 5:00 p.m.
“I am looking forward to seeing a different team of ours in our next match against MACU next week.”
