OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (CCCTigers.com) – It was the 26th shot at goal for MACU that finally got past Tiger Goalie Celena Vanhaezebrouck in the 70th minute in the 2nd half that was the difference in what was a spectatular game at goal by Vanhaezebrouck. The Evangels controlled most who outshot the Tigers 15-3 in the 1st half, but Vanhaezebrouck’s diving save in the 17th minute of the 1st half was a highlight that sparked the Tigers play, and even got a good look at goal by Amaya Chaffee missing left of goal as time expired in the half to keep the score 0-0 going into halftime.

The 2nd half saw a lot of the same from the 1st half, aggressive shots at goal by the Evangels, where they attacked goal, and on the 11th shot of the half deflected into goal to give the Evangels a 1-0 lead. Quickly after the goal, the Evangels went back into attack and were able to draw a penalty kick, which was saved by Vanhaezebrouk, keeping the Tigers in the game. The Evangels were able to sneak another goal at the 72nd minute to grow the lead 2-0. Racquel John had a header at goal hit the cross bar and just miss, and another great look with a shot by Camri Coker saved by MACU Goalie Rachel Torres. MACU scored a 3rd goal late in the game to take the Match 3-0.

“I’m proud of how our women played tonight. After the game we discussed, and are seeing the improvement in the areas we need to improve, and we were doing those things tonight, I’m excited to see this group keep getting better.” Said Coach Josh Macharia following the hard fought game, Saturday night.

The Tigers (4-6-0, 0-3-0) rest is short as they head to Fort Worth, Texas to take on the Texas Wesleyan Rams (3-6-2, 1-1-1) in an SAC battle on Tuesday, at Martin Field. Kickoff is slated for 5pm and can be seen on the SAC Sports Network.
