LINDSBORG, Kan. (BethanySwedes.com) – The Bethany College Women’s Soccer team opened up conference play against the Sterling College Warriors.
The Warriors would come out trying to utilize the wind at their backs with a few early shots, but Mackenzie Nutter would deny any and all shot attempts the Warriors would try in the first half.
The second half would open with a shot that sailed high by the Warriors, but this time the Swedes had the wind at their backs and would go on the counter attack as Leonela Flores would take a shot that would be blocked by an opposing defender, grab the rebound, and sail one to the right of the goal within two minutes of the Warriors first shot of the half. Later in the half, Nutter would rack up multiple saves within a minute, but Sterling would eventually find the back of the net three minutes later to score the lone goal of the evening in the 63rd minute. The Swedes would fall 1-0
Leonela Flores would lead the Swedes in shot attempts with four. Skyler Armstrong and Donatella Luccarreli would each record a shot on goal.
Mackenzie Nutter racked up eight saves on the evening.
