Women’s Basketball Bulldogs Fall to York

McPHERSON, Kan. ( — The York University Panthers used an 8-2 run to start the second quarter Monday (Jan. 29) to grab momentum and knock off the McPherson College Bulldogs 85-69 inside the Sport Center.

Four Bulldogs scored in double figures, led by Madelyn Hankins with 21 points. Chloe Clevenger added 16 points and a team-high nine rebounds, while Matisyn Moses finished with 15 points, eight rebounds, and three steals. Gillian Rodgers scored 12 points.

The Bulldogs shot 30.8 percent from the field, and were 15-for-19 from the free throw line.

MC led by as many as six in the first quarter, but an 11-3 run by the Panthers, capped off by a buzzer-beating three by Olivia Shannon gave them a lead they would never relinquish.

The Bulldogs pulled within 30-29 with 3:19 left in the opening half, but a barrage of triples put the Panthers on top 45-31 at the break.

Hankins drilled a three with 2:20 to play in the third quarter to cap a 9-3 burst, trimming the lead to 59-53, but from there it was all Panthers.

York shot 10-for-18 from beyond the arc, including 7-for-13 in the first half.

The Bulldogs are back in action Wednesday (Jan. 31) for White Out Night against Friends University. Tipoff is slated for 6:00 p.m.
