McPHERSON, Kan. (MacBulldogs.com) — The Bulldogs were unable to turn the tide of the season on Saturday (Feb. 8) as they dropped the first game of a three game homestand to the University of Saint Mary Spires.

The shots were just not falling for the Bulldogs in the first half as they shot just 28% from the field and failed to hit a three point shot in their eight attempts. Saint Mary did not have the same issues as they were able to hit 36% of their shots and a trio of three pointers to take a 36-24 lead into halftime.

While MC was able to start hitting their shots in the second half to the tune of a 40% field goal percentage, the Spires kept hitting their shots too. Saint Mary continued to hit the three point shot, hitting a total of five in the second half to push the lead out and keep the Bulldogs firmly behind them. USM kept the pace high and secured a 79-63 victory to send MC to a 0-24 record on the year and 0-18 in KCAC play.

Gillian Rodgers and Mariah Dightman both scored 15 points to lead the Bulldogs in scoring while Mikaela Boyd chipped in eight points.

The Bulldogs return to action for game two of this three game homestand on Wednesday, February 12 when they face off against York University. Tipoff is set for 6:00 p.m.
