McPHERSON, Kan. (MacBulldogs.com) — The Ottawa University Braves shot 46.2 percent from the field and went 11-for-26 from the three-point line Saturday (Dec. 9) to push past the McPherson College Bulldogs 78-53 inside the Sport Center.
Gillian Rodgers led the way for the Bulldogs (4-7, 0-6 KCAC) with 18 points and seven rebounds. Chloe Clevenger added 11 points and five rebounds.
MC shot just 34.0 percent (18-for-53) and made just five of their fifteen shot attempts from beyond the arc. The Bulldogs were also forced into 22 turnovers, compared to 13 for Ottawa.
The Bulldogs got off to a hot start, jumping out to a 12-5 lead after the first five minutes. But the Braves responded to knot the score at 15-15 at the end of the first quarter.
Ottawa then used a 9-0 run to start the second frame to take control before holding a 36-28 lead at the break. From there it was all Braves, outscoring MC 42-25 in the second half.
Kennedy Bankett scored 19 points for the Braves, on 9-for-10 shooting from the field. Katelyn Alatini added 17 points.
The Bulldogs are back in action Wednesday (Dec. 13) for an exhibition game against Northwestern Oklahoma State, before returning to the Sport Center to take on (RV) College of the Ozarks.
