TRACK & FIELD
The Moundridge Track & Field team traveled to Remington-Whitewater for the Berean Academy CKTL Meet Tuesday, April 29. Multiple athletes won multiple events in the contest.
Kaden Elmore had a huge day in the meet, winning the 100M, 200M, and 400M Dashes. Freshman Blaine Schriner won the Triple Jump in the event as well, jumping 39’3″. The boys also saw multiple top three finishes, including Paul Grill finishing second in the Long Jump, Karson Ryan finished 2nd in the 1600M Run, and the 4x100M Team finishing in third, finishing just three-hundredths of a second (0.03) behind second-place Berean Academy.
The Moundridge girls also had multiple top three finishes. Their lone event win was by freshman Mackie Conkling, who dominated the 800M Run winning by nearly seven seconds. Sophomore Aspyn Stos had a great day as well, finishing 2nd in the Shot Put, which finished just 8.5 inches behind a Hesston senior. Stos also finished 5th in the Discus, which was third amongst underclassmen in the event.

BASEBALL
The Moundridge High School Baseball team had five games since Friday, April 25, winning four of those contests. Clay Wilson threw a five-inning shutout in game one Friday vs. Ell-Saline in their 12-0 victory. Moundridge only had five hits but drew 11 walks, stealing six bases in the process. Logan Greenwalt led the Wildcats going 2-3 scoring a pair of runs. Owen Colwell walked in all three plate appearances. Game two saw much of the same as Moundridge won 15-5 in five innings. Logan Greenwalt went 3-4 with 3 RBI’s. Atley Lichti also had three hits in the contest while also earning the win on the mound.
Moundridge played again Monday, April 28 with a doubleheader vs. Ellinwood. Ellinwood got the better of Moundridge in game one 14-3 thanks to spurts in the 3rd and 5th innings. Moundridge scored three runs in the 5th, but it was not enough. The Wildcats turned it around in come-from-behind fashion in game two winning 12-8. They once trailed 5-0 after the top of the 2nd, and trailed after the top of the 4th inning 6-2, but a four-run fourth tied it up. Ellinwood retook the lead in the 5th, but Moundridge put up three runs to take their first lead of the doubleheader and kept it for good. Logan Greenwalt went 3-4, including 2 RBI’s and a double. Finn Lintecum got the win and Atley Lichti collected the save.
Moundridge had a short rest, playing a single game Tuesday, April 29 against Herington, winning 15-0 in four innings. Layton Wiens threw all four innings striking out five batters. The Wildcats had five hits in this game as well, drawing nine walks and getting hit by seven pitches. Logan Greenwalt was hit in three plate appearances, stealing three of the team’s seven bases. Finn Lintecum had the team’s only extra-base hit with an RBI triple.
The Wildcats are 11-7 on the season and will look to stay hot Friday, May 2 vs. Remington.
SOFTBALL
The Moundridge Varsity Softball team had three doubleheaders since Friday, April 25, winning five out of six games. The team started off with a doubleheader vs. Ell-Saline, winning 13-3 in game one and 13-7 in game two. Lela Winsor was the pitcher for game one, throwing all five innings and striking out six batters. Winsor also went 2-2, drawing two walks and driving home two runs. Macy Kaminkow had a team-high three hits with two RBI’s. Lakyn Allenbach drove the only home run of the game. Winsor threw the complete game in game two as well, striking out five batters. She also went 2-3 in game two.
The team followed up with a doubleheader vs. Ellinwood Monday, April 28. The Wildcats won game one 9-6 thanks to a big batting day by Sam Strausz. She went 3-4 in the game hitting two doubles and a triple, driving home five runs. Winsor went 3-3 with 3 RBI’s in the contest as well. However, the team fell in game two 5-4 despite out-hitting Ellinwood.
The next day, the team had a doubleheader against Herington, earning blowout victories in both games. Game one saw Moundridge winning 15-0 after blasting 12 hits and reaching on eight errors. Strausz went 4-4 with 5 RBI’s. Winsor threw the full game with seven strikeouts. Game two was also a four-inning 15-run victory for the Wildcats, winning 19-4. Moundridge did commit six errors, but had 11 hits and drew seven walks.
The team is 14-7 on the year and will face Remington Friday, May 2 at home.
